(Scene 15- Dinner party)
In this scene, Delia is hosting a dinner party. The scene starts with on of her guests mentioning that he used to be new yorks leading paranormal researchers. Lydia then mentions that she saw some ghosts (Adam and Barbra).Delia is too proud of her house and her architecture so she try to change the subject which she does but not b choice as Adam and Barbera then haunts them and makes her break out in song.
This one of the most famous scenes from the Movie.This scene never fails to make me laugh and smile. The things that grab my attention the most are the incredible use of props, special effects and facial expressions. The facial expressions grabbed my attention the most as when they start to get taunted and haunted Delias guests start to laugh at her which always makes me laugh as you can sense that the same is going to happen to them. Them laughing at her foreshadows the fact that they re going to be haunted as well.
In earlier scenes, we get told that barbera had an idea on how to get rid of the guests. So they can have their house back , But we are never told what the idea is until this scene. However, this leads to us thinking that she is going to do something scary. When we find out the actual idea never fails to make me laugh as you think she has all this power to do something really scary but in fact she has made them do something really stupid. This part makes me want to carry on watching as I want to see what other silly stuff they do.
Another part of the scene that always makes me jump no matter how many times i have watched Beetlejuice.Is the ending scene where the scrimps become hands and grabs the Guests. this also amazes me to see how they did this part considering when Beetlejuice was filmed the special effects was not as great as now. In order to film this they must of had people sitting under the table.
